But if you're "just" frustrated (I say "just" in comparison with regret, not to belittle the power of frustration) with waiting, then I don't think you need to worry or question whether this is a character flaw. Back to the "two backup plans" v. "interesting escape story" thing: Can you expect your romantic life to be any different? I think it probably thwarts all attempts at planning (backup or otherwise) because you have to have an interesting story. And you will know when you end up in that story...and not until, probably. Speaking of character flaws: "It scares me to depend on someone only to realize that they are not committed to being a person upon whom others depend." And while I am not surprised being confronted with that reality [since it is something I've long suspected] it is still, painful. How did you become so smart without opening yourself to more risk than you have? I missed out on things I still regret because I closed myself off in the past.
